- Does SessionPBX include a hosted PBX?
- Yes. Teams Phone and Teams Business include a hosted phone system, with voice and video calling, team messaging, voicemail and native softphones. We manage hosting and maintenance. Connect your own SIP carrier for external calls; your carrier bills you directly for numbers and calls.
- Which Hosted PBX features require Teams Business?
- Teams Business adds ring groups, call queues, visual call flows, IVR, business-hours routing, recording, supervision and reports. App logo branding is included with Teams Business and available as an add-on for Teams Phone.
- Can I use the softphones with my existing PBX?
- Yes. Choose a BYO PBX softphone plan to connect your existing SIP-based PBX or hosted platform, including Asterisk, FreePBX, FusionPBX, 3CX, FreeSWITCH, Kamailio, OpenSIPS, BroadSoft, Metaswitch, PortaOne, VitalPBX and Yeastar. Calling features depend on your PBX and configuration.
- What audio and video codecs are supported?
- Audio: OPUS, AMR, AMR-WB, G.722, G.729, G.711 (A-law and u-law), and GSM. Video: H.264, VP8, and VP9. You can configure different codec sets for WiFi and mobile networks to optimize quality and bandwidth.
- How does softphone encryption work?
- Signaling can be encrypted with TLS and media with SRTP, and file transfers are encrypted too. Certificate verification is configurable, and credentials are stored encrypted on the device.
- How do users get set up on the softphone?
- From the SessionCloud portal, send each user a QR code for mobile or a one-time setup link for desktop. The app configures itself with the right SIP settings, so nobody has to type server addresses or passwords.
- Can users make video calls from the softphone?
- Yes. Video calling works on Windows, macOS, iOS and Android once it's switched on for your account in the SessionCloud portal.
- Does the softphone include messaging?
- Yes. Depending on your plan and setup, users can send instant messages, join group chat rooms, share files and send SMS through your SIP provider, right alongside their calls.
- Can I migrate from another softphone provider?
- Yes. SessionCloud uses standard SIP — if your current softphone works with your PBX, ours will too. QR code provisioning makes re-deploying to your users fast and painless.
