App Logo Branding for Hosted PBX Resellers | SessionPBX

When you resell a hosted phone system, app logo branding puts your logo and in-app product name on the softphones your customers' teams use every day, on Windows, macOS, iOS and Android. You upload it once in the SessionPBX portal, each team member's app picks it up the next time they sign in or scan their QR code, and the setup emails carry the same branding, so customers see your name from the first invitation to the first call.

This guide is for MSPs, ITSPs, VoIP providers and IT resellers who sell phone systems to their own business customers and want a custom branded app experience without building an app. If that's you, you can apply to the SessionPBX partner programme and run it hosted by SessionTalk or self-hosted on your own servers. Teams Phone and Teams Business are SessionPBX plans, not Microsoft Teams.

Why does your logo on the phone app matter when you resell a phone system?

The phone system has plenty of parts your customer never sees: the call flows, the SIP trunk, the admin portal. The part they do see, every working day, is the app. It's on their laptop when a call comes in and on their phone when they're out of the office. For most staff, the app is the phone system.

If that app shows someone else's name, your customer's team has no reason to connect their phones with you. When it shows your logo and your product name, the link is obvious. The people making and taking calls know whose service they're on, and they know who to ask when something needs changing.

That matters when you resell. You're the one who sets the system up, answers the support questions and invoices the customer. App logo branding makes the everyday experience match that relationship. It doesn't change how the phone system works. It changes whose name the customer's staff see while they use it.

It also helps you sell the phone system as your own service rather than a product you happen to pass along. A branded app experience is something you can show in a demo, point to in a proposal and mention in your onboarding emails, and it stays consistent across every customer you bring on.

What do customers see from the first invite to the first call?

The branding starts before anyone opens the app. Here's the path a member of your customer's team follows:

  1. The setup email arrives. It carries your branding and tells them their softphone is ready to set up. For mobile, it includes a QR code to scan. For desktop, it includes a setup link.
  2. They install the app and connect. On a phone or tablet, they open the app and scan the QR code from the email. On a laptop or desktop, they follow the setup link. Nobody has to type in server details or SIP credentials.
  3. The app shows your brand. Once they're signed in, the softphone shows your logo and in-app product name.
  4. They make their first call. From here on, every call, message and voicemail happens inside an app with your name on it.

The example email on the live partners page shows this well: a friendly greeting from the provider, a short line saying the softphone is ready, a scannable QR code with clear steps, and a support contact at the end. In your version, that's your name in the greeting and your support details at the bottom.

The same identity shows on Windows, macOS, iOS and Android, so a team member sees the same brand on a laptop at their desk and on their phone in the car park.

How is branding set up in the SessionPBX portal?

You set it once. In the SessionPBX portal, you upload a logo and enter the in-app product name. Every team member's softphone picks it up the next time they sign in or scan their QR code. You don't send anyone a new app, and nobody has to reinstall.

The reason it's this simple is the way it works. Branding is applied inside the standard SessionCloud Softphone app at runtime, so there's no app-store wait and no store review cycle before the customer's team sees your identity. The app your customers download is the standard SessionCloud Softphone app. The branding is layered on when they connect.

Because setup runs through emailed QR codes and setup links, credentials never have to be read out over the phone or typed in by hand. If you want a deeper look at keeping that step safe across many customers, see our guide to secure softphone provisioning for MSPs. For the wider picture of how a cloud softphone platform handles branded apps, read how a cloud softphone platform delivers branded SIP apps.

The apps themselves are the same ones covered on our softphones pages: the softphone apps your customers' teams use, on desktop and mobile, with calling, messaging and presence in one place.

Which SessionPBX plan includes app logo branding?

App logo branding is included with Teams Business and is an add-on on Teams Phone. Teams Phone and Teams Business are SessionPBX plans, not Microsoft Teams. SessionPBX is a standalone phone system.

Partner pricing for both plans, and for the add-on, is shown on the SessionPBX partners page. Approved partners see their own pricing in the partner portal.

Teams Phone and Teams Business are SessionPBX plans, not Microsoft Teams.

If a customer needs call flows, queues, recording and supervision, they'll be on Teams Business anyway, and branding comes with it. If a customer only needs calling, messaging and voicemail on Teams Phone, you can add branding for that customer when it makes sense.

Does branding work the same for hosted and self-hosted partners?

Yes. Partners choose how each customer runs, and app logo branding is available either way. On the partners page, the choice is put simply: let us run it, or run it on your own server with multi-tenant for many customers. Partner pricing applies to both hosting options.

Hosted by SessionTalk. We host and maintain it, in the UK (London), the US (New York) or Singapore. Each customer gets their own SessionPBX project under your partner account. You create it, you own it, and you manage the extensions, SIP trunk and call flows for that customer. This suits customers where you want nothing to run yourself.

Self-hosted on your own servers. Approved partners can run SessionPBX on their own servers. You run many customer tenants on your own server, with every customer kept separate, so the phone system sits on your own infrastructure. Self-hosted is available to approved partners only, and server, hosting and network costs are yours. For many resellers this is the heart of the offer: one platform you operate, many customers on it, and your logo on every customer's apps.

Either way, the branding experience for the customer's team is the same. Partners put their logo on every customer's apps, the apps run on Windows, macOS, iOS and Android, and team members connect with QR or link provisioning. You can also mix the two: small customers on the hosted platform with nothing to run, and the rest on their own servers.

If you're weighing up whether to run many customers on one platform, our guide to multi-tenant PBX for MSPs covers the questions to ask. To compare the hosted service your customers would run on, see the hosted PBX your customers run on.

How should you use app logo branding in your sales pitch without over-promising?

App logo branding is a strong talking point, as long as you describe it accurately. Here's what you can honestly say to a prospect:

  • Your logo and in-app product name appear on their staff's softphones, on Windows, macOS, iOS and Android.
  • The setup emails their team receives carry your branding, with a QR code for mobile or a setup link for desktop.
  • Their staff pick up the branding the next time they sign in or scan their QR code, with no app-store wait.
  • You set it once in the portal, and it applies across their team.

And here's what not to promise:

  • A separate app-store listing under your name. Customers use the standard SessionCloud Softphone app, which shows your branding.
  • Custom app features or a different app build per customer.
  • Colour schemes, themes or other customisation beyond your logo and in-app product name.

Keeping the pitch to what the product does saves awkward conversations at onboarding. It's also easier to sell: "your staff see our name on their phone app and setup emails" is clear, true and easy to demonstrate.

If you already sell SIP trunks, our guide for ITSPs on adding a hosted PBX to your SIP trunks explains how the two fit together.

Before you switch on app logo branding for a customer

  • Your logo file is ready and looks right at small sizes.
  • The in-app product name is agreed and spelled the way you want staff to see it.
  • The plan is confirmed: Teams Business, or the add-on on Teams Phone.
  • The customer's team list is ready, so invites go to the right people.
  • The setup email wording has been checked.
  • Staff know to expect a QR code for mobile and a setup link for desktop.
  • Staff have been told the app updates the next time they sign in or scan their QR code.
  • The support contact on the setup email is yours, not ours.
  • Your pitch claims have been checked against the live partners page.

How do you get started as a partner?

Start by applying on the SessionPBX partner programme page. You don't need a SessionCloud account to apply. Every application is reviewed by our team, and partner pricing and workspace access are switched on after approval.

Once you're approved, you create a SessionPBX project for each customer, or set up self-hosted on your own servers, and add your logo and in-app product name in the portal. The partner docs, linked from the partners page, include a section on app logo branding alongside customer workspaces, partner billing and bringing your own SIP trunk.

If you're still comparing programmes, our guide on how to choose a VoIP reseller program sets out what to check before you sign up.
